B's next best seller could already be in the works. Is it too soon to talk about life after Jason?
Just as we started to come to terms with Bethenny Frankel and Jason Hoppy’s breakup bombshell, Bethenny—as always—remains one lucrative step ahead.
RadarOnline reports that the Skinnygirl mogul is already penning a book about her new role as a single mom. “Bethenny has been writing and documenting her feelings in the beginning stages of the divorce,” a source tells the site. “It will deal with the delicate balancing act that is being a single mom, and the guilt she feels because her daughter Bryn will now come from a broken home, something she never wanted for her little girl.”
If this turns out to be true, doesn’t this all seem a little fast? Not necessarily, says YourTango expert Mandy Walker, a divorce mentor and founder of Since My Divorce. “The reality is that Bethenny and Jason may have been functioning as single parents for some time prior to making their break up public. It might appear to the outside world that you're suddenly single but it's much more of a gradual transition.”
While some will undoubtedly criticize this mommy mogul for cashing in on her divorce, Mandy sees things otherwise. “Bethenny is a best-selling author and many of her fans will experience divorce at some point in their lives. They may identify with some of her feelings and emotions and may find it helpful. As for profiting from her divorce, she could always donate some of the proceeds to domestic abuse shelters.”
Another pro-book standpoint? People leak their relationship baggage to the masses all the time, albeit under a disguise. “Writing about your breakup and your life after divorce is very therapeutic especially if you can be brutally honest and not edit yourself for political correctness,” Mandy continues. “Most of us don't want to do that in a public forum. Bloggers do it using a pseudonym to protect their privacy and that of their ex and children but in sharing their stories and experiences they are helping others make the transition from married to single and to do the best for their children.”
YOU RESPOND: What’s your take on the situation? Is Bethenny flashing her single mom card too soon? Is it tacky for her to talk divorce in a new book?
