We couldn't be more happy for Kelly Clarkson — 2012 certainly was her year for love and transformation. We can't wait to see how 2013 will shape up for her. In a recent candid interview with Cosmopolitan, Clarkson revealed her secret to weight loss: a little bit of love and portion control.
It's actually in the Stronger singer's best interest to be more in shape for her tours and for her singing overall. We love Clarkson because she knows how to be herself whether she's 18 pounds heavier or 18 pounds thinner and we couldn't ask for a better role model!
"I lost 18 pounds, and I think that happens when you fall in love or date someone," she revealed in the February issue. "If I'm going to be messing around, I gotta look good." We couldn't agree more and we enjoy her candor on the topic. Plus, being more active means she is more healthy!
So how did she make the changes that got her 18 pounds lighter? You know, besides that newly-engaged workout?
"There's not a fad diet," she said. "I was working with a trainer, and she said, 'You'd be amazed the amount of weight you can drop by halving your portions. I know it sounds crazy, but do it for two weeks and watch what happens.' I just cut back my portions, I stopped eating late at night, and I work out a little more than I used to, and I literally dropped 18 pounds in a month.
"I think it happens when you get really busy. But when I'm on my off-time girl, those 18 might come back."
At least she's honest. We all know Blackstock loves her so much, 18 pounds on or off won't really matter. We have to bet that she'll keep the weight off though. Happiness and love does that to a person!
