Why my New Year's resolution is to make 2013 another resolution-free year.
Overall, dropping the "I could be doing more" attitude truly improved my second year as a mom. Sure, I spent some time trying to get my daughter to eat more solids and sleep better, but again, I didn't put any unrealistic, strict goals or deadlines in place. After months of agonizing over the two aforementioned parenting issues in 2011, I let go of comparisons or expectations. She and I just went with the flow all year long. I put very little pressure on her to change and as a result, I am able to truly enjoy letting her enjoy being a toddler. It appears to be working quite well, because even though neither of us has slept through the night or given up on this extended nursing business, we're both pretty happy gals.
My new attitude has definitely improved the relationships I value with other family and friends. While I still do my fair share of bitching and whining about this or that, I am not constantly harping on self-improvement, which we all know can get incredibly annoying. Nothing kills a nice conversation quicker than dropping a few "But I'm soooo fat" statements.
