When Reba McEntire got the call from stepson Brandon Blackstock that he was engaged to her friend Kelly Clarkson, she couldn't be happier. However, she's got a feeling the singer may want to run away and elope!
According to Reba, Clarkson is so in love she once remarked, 'Don't be surprised if we elope!' McEntire got married for the second time to Brandon's father Narvel in 1989, and there was no production involved.
"That was never my deal and I don't know that that's Kelly's either," she told Us. "I've had two weddings and they were both very small. Very few people. They really weren't even weddings. We had a preacher there, but that's it."
Back in November, Clarkson started her own rumor of elopement when she told Ellen DeGeneres ,"Honestly, I've never been the girl to plan a wedding. We will totally, probably elope."
McEntire and Clarkson took part in the Grammy Awards' artist interview series this week where the pair joked about McEntire singing at the wedding.
"@kelly_clarkson And speaking of the engagement, since you are going to be my daughter-in-law, I'm singing at the wedding, right??" McEntire tweeted. "@reba Obviously! My request is "Let's Get It On" by Al Green. That's not awkward, right?" Clarkson joked back.
We hope Reba gets to sing at the wedding but we'd choose "It's Raining Men." However, it would be adorable if McEntire and Clarkson did their famous duet "Because of You."
Do you think eloping is better than planning a large, traditional wedding?
