Ricky Martin's Top 4 Love Lyrics: Decoded!

Ricky Martin
Ricky Martin turns 41 on Christmas eve, so we're celebrating!

3. She's all, she's all I ever had / In a world so cold, so empty / She's all, she's all I ever had:

Martin's single “She’s All I Ever Had” hit the number two spot on the Billboard Hot 100 in 1999, the year it was released. Now, we have to take into count that Ricky didn’t write this song, so in guessing what these lyrics mean, we’re purely being imaginative. But, they seem to us at least, to imply his hidden sexuality at the time. It wasn’t until 2010 that Martin announced himself as a “fortunate homosexual man.” So in 1999, perhaps women were all he’d ever had, but it’s not actually what he wanted. More recently, Martin said to Larry King: "Everything about saying that I am gay feels right. If I’d known how good it was going to feel, I would have done it ten years ago."

4. I think I’m cool / ‘cause your name’s on this heart-shaped tattoo / Now the best thing about me is you:

“The Best Thing About Me Is You” was released in 2010, and we’re thinking it’s definitely about Ricky’s adorable twin boys— Matteo and Valentino—who were born in 2008 via a surrogate mother. Alternatively, we could relate this song to Ricky’s current boyfriend, Carlos González Abella, an economist. Martin thanked him while accepting an award in 2011. So, while the pair may not have been together when Martin released the song, it’s still safe to say that it’s relevant to their relationship too.

Happy Birthday, Ricky!
