Would you think to hit up an auction house to get rid of your ex's things?
What better way to move on from your rocker husband than to auction off his stuff and donate the money to charity? Well, that's just what Jo Karslake did after divorcing The Rolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood. And we don't really blame her!
The two were married for 23 years until 2008, when Woods had an affair with a cocktail waitress.
The auction was announced in September as part of the divorce settlement between Karslake and Woods, but at that time, Woods denied any participation. "Ronnie feels saddened that Jo has taken this course of action and wants the public to know he has not teamed up with Jo on this outrageous sale," his rep said in a statement. However, the house behind the sale explained that the items were jointly owned.
It all happened over the weekend in Beverly Hills. So, people who had some extra cash lying around got to bid on some great pieces from The Rolling Stones. The collection included clothes, guitars and tour paraphernalia worth tens of thousands of dollars.
We bet Karslake enjoyed auctioning off the 1955 Fender Stratocaster guitar worth $60,800. Did she do it to move on from Wood or just to make some dough? We're thinking a little of both. Wood, 65, just announced he would be getting married for the third time to 34-year-old theater producer Sally Humphreys. Maybe the rock star thinks the third time is the charm!
The auction comes right before the memoir Karslake is putting out next week that chronicles the ups and downs of being a rocker's wife. Let's give her credit for finding a creative way to get over her ex-husband and for donating some of the proceeds to MusiCares, a charity that helps addicted musicians find help.
So, now it's time for you to pitch in. Do you think you'd donate your ex's stuff to make moving on a little easier?
