Ben, tell us how you two met. Was it love at first sight?
We met in Chicago. It was definitely not love at first sight. I thought Emily was in high school (Emily had actually already graduated from college and was working full-time), and Emily thought I was loud, and he was always eating all of the cookies she baked for everyone else. But we found their common love of modern art and the rest was history.
Where did these hilarious ideas you have come from?
Our incredibly awesome community. Cheezburger has a passionate fan base of 24 million people who upload more than 535,000 pictures and videos as well as view 500 million pages and 110 million videos each month.
Did you ever imagine it would become such a popular topic and now a TV show?
When we purchased I Can Has Cheezburber, we knew that LOLcats were a big booming phenomenon and wasn’t another oddity on the Web. The community was really compelling because they were developing their own language and subculture. In addition, it was a major form of entertainment that people loved. But with that said, we never thought that we’d be on a TV show!
Besides hilarious of course, how is your relationship at home with one another?
Even though work is such an important part of our lives, we do try and balance time away from our laptops and just enjoy talking about non-work things. We have a dog named Nemo so we try to spend time with all three of us at home. In addition, we love going out to eat, visiting art museums, traveling, and spending time out on the water and in nature.
Emily, would you say you're both super funny on your own?
We're both funny in our own sense and probably just to each other. Ben is great at telling hilarious stories to friends, family or an audience and engages people with his wit. I am more more of a one-liner type person and will slip in my random sayings here and there. I also enjoy more self-deprecating humor and don't mind making a fool out of myself to make someone laugh.
