Tom Cruise Suing Tabloids For $50 Million For 'Exploiting' Suri
By Emily Longeretta. Posted on .
Tom Cruise may not be married to Katie Holmes anymore, the mother of his daughter Suri, but that doesn't mean he's abandoned the family! Now, he's fighting back against those claims that the tabloids have been selling.
Cruise cited two headlines suggesting "abandonment" from specific articles of Life & Style and In Touch Weekly when he filed a lawsuit today for "exploiting a defenseless 6-year-old child on its cover." He also said that his team had contacted the Bauer Publishing magazines, and they failed to "correct these fabrications."

And, this claim isn't a cheap one. Cruise and his lawyer Bert Fields have stamped a large sum of $50 million on the case.
"Tom is a caring father who dearly loves Suri," Fields said in a statement. "She's a vital part of his life and always will be. To say he has 'abandoned' her is a vicious lie. To say it in lurid headlines with a tearful picture of Suri is reprehensible."
He recently had told E! that it's hard for Cruise, because yes, he is away in London filming his new movie All You Need is Kill; however, he is sure to talk to his daughter once or twice a day. It was also made a point that even before the divorce, when Cruise was away filming, the phone was their only means of communication.
In my opinion, if he wins the case, which he just might, he should keep the $50 million to save up for Suri or put toward her college fund. You know, because he and his Dawson's Creek star ex-wife may be broke by then.
So, what do you think of the case? Will Cruise win against the magazines or will it be yet another flop to add to his list—ie. Day & Knight (sorry, Tom!)?
