Not only are they hosting the Golden Globes together, but they're also raising money for charity!
Amy Poehler & Tina Fey made us crack up eleven years ago when they began "Weekend Update," a bit on Saturday Night Live. This week, it was announced that the best friends will be hosting the 70th Annual Golden Globe Awards. Now, they're even using their friendship to raise money for Autism! Is there anything these two can't do?
On Monday, it was confirmed that Fey and Poehler were officially taking over Ricky Gervais' three-year role as host of the Golden Globe Awards.
"Having both Tina Fey and Amy Poehler on board to host this year's festivities is a major coup," the president of NBC's alternative and late-night entertainment, Paul Telegdy said on Monday. "Tina and Amy have a proven chemistry and comedic timing from their many years together on SNL to their successful co-starring roles in Baby Mama."
While recently doing separate work—Fey in the seventh and final season of her show 30 Rock and Poehler in Parks and Recreation—the two reunited for what may have been a preview of what's to come at the Golden Globes. The two gathered for Comedy Central's Night of Too Many Stars: America Comes Together for Autism Programs, to air on October 21.
When the duo took the stage, they were joined by the night's emcee, Jon Stewart and couldn't help but to crack a few jokes. We'll save those so you can see them! However, we can tell you they bid a night of their friendship for $36,000 which all goes to numorous Autism programs around the country. The winning bidder won a night with the dynamic twosome— we're jealous! That's going to be fun!
Other awards that night included a two-day visit to the Breaking Bad set that went for $22,000, a Simpsons reading with the cast which went for $13,000, a holiday card taken with Al Pacino which went for $25,000 (and was bid on by comedian Louis C.K., although he didn't win). The strangest of the night was the opportunity to use the bathroom alongside Seth Rogan—which two auctioners paid $18,000 for!
So, we'll take the night out with the SNL duo over the rest! What it would be like to be part of their inner circle!
