He didn't need to badmouth his cheating ex, Kristen Stewart, in order to come out on top.
It was the interview Twihards have been waiting for ever since news first broke that Kristen Stewart cheated on Robert Pattinson.
And in our eyes, Pattinson didn't disappoint.
With the help of host Jon Stewart, the 26-year-old actor's appearance on The Daily Show Monday night was a big success, and an even bigger strike to camp Kristen Stewart. Why? Because Rob came out looking like an endearing, genuine — albeit hurting — gentleman. And a gentleman doesn't need to slander anyone – he knows actions speak louder than words, anyways.
"What have you been up to?" Jon Stewart opened the interview (watch the full version here) as he handed Rob a pint of Ben & Jerry's ice cream (classic breakup food). "We're just a couple o' gals talkin'...tell me everything." 'Heartbroken' Robert Pattinson Moves Out After Kristen's Affair
But, Rob wouldn't budge. After quipping that he "had a joke prepared" and was "all set up and ready to go," he only admitted (between bites of melting ice cream) that in the heat of this cheating scandal, he really should've shelled out for some help.
"My biggest problem in life is I'm cheap and I didn't hire a publicist ... In every awkward interview, normally actors get these things scripted ... so, I don't know, I think I'm going to hire a publicist," he explained.
After some friendly banter, Jon Stewart offered his famous friend some advice: "The last time I had a bad breakup, Ben & Jerry got me through some of the tougher times. So I thought you and I could bond over this and talk about, 'Boy, you are better off. Kick her to the curb. Whatever!'"
Pattinson laughed, and then continued to do what he was there to do: talk about his new film, Cosmopolis. That's a professional actor right there, and a classy guy to boot. He doesn't need to publicly badmouth Kristen. We've already seen all the photos and heard all of the apologies – she's made her own bed, and it's clear Pattinson doesn't want to lie anywhere near it. Instead, what he wants to do his focus on his own life and his own goals, one of which is promoting this movie that he's particularly proud of.
If Rob can handle the rest of his promotional duties in the same manner, he'll truly come out of this whole mess on top. With every dodged question and vague response, he's making himself look better and Kristen look worse. Don't you agree?
