As the story goes, Tom Cruise did not see Katie Holmes' divorce file coming – not for a mile. Coping with that news has been incredibly trying for the actor these past few weeks, especially when it comes to being apart from his daughter, Suri Cruise.
According to People, a source close to the ex-couple reveals that Tom has been filling his head with questions, trying to figure out where he went wrong. He's been asking himself, "What did I not see?" and is completely baffled by the sheer abruptness of his split with Katie.

Tom was in the middle of filming his upcoming flick Oblivion in Iceland when he got wind of Katie's intentions to divorce him. He had been up there filming for weeks, resulting in much time away from Suri, 6. As soon as he learned Katie wanted out, he desperately wanted to see his daughter. "He's wanted to see her as fast as possible since this started," says a source for People. "(But) he couldn't shut down production, cost people their jobs. People count on him." So Tom stuck with the film despite his pain, and several of his family members traveled to support him as he finished his obligations with the film.

The quickly agreed upon divorce settlement gave Katie full custody of Suri. "Tom tried his best to do what's right for Suri," his lawyer stated. Suri will remain living with her mother in New York City, but Tom will see her often with generous visitation rights. "He'll be with her whenever he can," says a source. Tom's lawyer said that the actor is "sad" but not "bitter" about the situation.
Meanwhile, Tom has received some much-needed emotional support from his family these past few weeks. Particularly, he's been relying on the presence of his two older children, Connor, 17, and Isabella, 19, as well as his three sisters and his mother – all of whom also identify as Scientologists. /node/155871
A source close to Mr. Cruise adds, "Tom is not ashamed of his beliefs and won't hide them from his daughter."
