Born on May 19, 1941, native New Yorker Nora Ephron — who passed away yesterday from leukemia complications — was the oldest of four sisters, all of whom became writers. But it was only she who accidentally slipped into the movie business after her marriage with her second husband, Watergate-famous journalist Carl Bernstein, went south. She managed to turn this broken marriage into a best-selling novel, and then into the 1986 Meryl Streep and Jack Nicholson movie Heartburn.
