As we all know, breakups suck. There's the returning of clothes, resisting the urge to call him, and many late night Ben & Jerry's binges. What can make matters worse is if you're forced to bump into your ex every now and then. Sound familiar? Of course.
According to Page Six, Swift avoided running into her ex-fling at Sunset Tower restaurant in West Hollywood on Tuesday by actively choosing to sit as far away from him as possible. For some reason, Swift's normal act of avoidance shocked the world and warranted an exclusive story on the web. Why is a celebrity taking whatever means necessary to avoid an ex in order to have a good night being considered scandalous?
Perhaps it was the way she handled it. A witness says, "Taylor very visibly — in front of the entire restaurant — demanded to be moved to the other side. The bar's usually an oasis of calm and privacy for celebrities and power players, but this was drama central." John Mayer Says He Was "Really Humiliated" By Taylor Swift Song
We're all certainly familiar with wanting to avoid an ex at all costs, even if that means a little uncomfortable awkwardness. So why the need to "ooh" over Swift's extremely normal reaction to Mayer? Because even though we know celebrities have beating hearts and blood pumping through their veins, it's easy to forget that they are actually normal like us. Yes, they don't always wear makeup (hello, top-selling magazine covers!), and they don't always want to be polite to someone who broke their heart.
I know T-Swift may have people calling her immature and dramatic because she did whatever she could to slip under John's radar (a girl's gotta do what she's gotta do, especially without an invisibility potion), but I know that if I were in her shoes after a messy breakup, I would've done the same thing. Although my shoes may not be as expensive as hers.
