The star of "Rock Of Ages" opens up about his past mistakes and the love of his life for Playboy.
Tom Cruise looks the same as he did when he slid across the entryway in Risky Business (yeah, you know the scene I'm talking about). Actually, he may even look better.
The handsome, soon-to-be 50-year-old actor sat down for a candid interview with Playboy for their June issue and dispelled some common rumors and judgments made about himself and his family. After all, he is the man who jumped off of Oprah's couch in the name of love. Is Tom Cruise Really The Sexiest Short Man Alive?
"My whole life, I've wanted to take care of my family and be the person people can depend on," he tells the magazine. "I feel that about myself. Do I make mistakes? Yeah. I don't care who you are, life has challenges. Whether it's as a father, as a man, in my work, you go through things. I want to look at those things for what they really are, take responsibility, make it right and move on. How harshly I'm judged or not judged, I don't think about stuff like that. I feel lucky."
But, Cruise knows he can't win when it comes to certain topics ... like religion and his belief in Scientology. He explains he's merely thankful and stands behind the choices he's made. He tells Playboy, "What I believe in my own life is that it's a search for how I can do things better, whether it's being a better man or a better father or finding ways for myself to improve. Individuals have to decide what is true and real for them. I'm fortunate in the life I have."
What he most certainly feels fortunate about is his two loves: his wife, Katie Holmes and his daughter, Suri Cruise, 6.
He describes his wife as "funny and charming, and when she walks into the room, I just feel better. I'm a romantic. I like doing things like creating romantic dinners, and she enjoys that. I don't know what to say – I'm just happy, and I have been since the moment I met her. What we have is very special." Swoon! Katie Holmes Calls Hubby Tom Cruise A 'Manly Romantic'
As for those abs of steel we see in the previews for his new film Rock of Ages, Cruise admits, "I train, go without sleep. I just go hard." But, has he had any work done? "I haven't, and I never would."
