Nadya Suleman, the mother of 14 who is famously known as Octomom, has filed for Chapter 7 bankruptcy. Her financial problems are nothing new, though – in March, she admitted to running so low on cash, she opted to pose almost nude for U.K.'s Closer magazine to the tune of $8,000.
That money has quickly run out though, and she owes much more than she can pay. In bankruptcy papers filed on April 27, Suleman lists only $50,000 in assets in comparison to her $1 million in debts. Octomom Nadya Suleman: Broke And Posing Nude For Cash
"I have had to make some very difficult decisions this year and filing Chapter 7 was one of them," she says, according to People. "But I have to do what is best for my children and I need a fresh start."
So, who exactly does the single mother of 14 kiddies owe money to? Among her creditors are Verizon Wireless, Orkin Pest Control, Indy Mac Mortgage, the Department of Motor Vehicles, a Christian school, and her gas, electric and water utility bills.
Filing for bankruptcy is just another move in Octomom's attempts to keep her family above water. After posing nude, she talked to Anderson Cooper on his talk show about her decision to strip down for money.
"I am covered. I had to think about that. I reflected on that quite a bit before choosing to do it. I discussed it with my children openly," she said. "I'll be honest, I did it for money." Weird News: Police Investigate Octomom For Child Neglect
At that point, she said she was struggling with her mortgage payments, but did her best to keep her kids upbeat.
"I don't feel it's appropriate to burden the kids with that kind of stress," she said. "I do my best to have life for them every day as happy as possible. We play, we enjoy the moments we have together and that's all that really matters."
