Would you cover for his naked breakdown? Crimes against humanity?
Last week, Jason Russell, the creator of the "KONY 2012" video was jailed for running around San Diego, naked and yelling about the devil. His wife, Danica Russell, defended her husband saying that he was suffering from severe dehydration and exhaustion. The LA Times reports, 'A statement by his wife, Danica Russell, said her husband was under stress and that he "never had a substance abuse or drinking problem, and this episode wasn't caused by either of those things.'"
Let me tell you something, as a mother, sorority sister, and a holder of a graduate degree, I've gone a long time on little to no sleep, drinking only Diet Mt. Dew and yet, I've still avoided public j-o sessions. So, I'm not buying the exhaustion excuse. But when it comes to a wife defending her husband, I'm torn. On the one hand, it's important for couples to support one another. I hope that if my husband gets himself into a sticky situation, even if it involves the devil and naked San Diego, that I will stand by him. But on the other hand? Where's the line? I certainly wouldn't lie for him. Well, maybe if the evil Capital was trying to force him into the Hunger Games, but not if he was just trying to cover for a drug addiction. And certainly not if he was responsible for the murder of innocent lives.
MSNBC reported that the wife of Syrian dictator Bashar al-Assad claims she's the real dictator. I hope she was making some sort of joke, because killing protestors isn't something you should be proud of. Actually, I don't hope she was making a joke. Because that's almost worse. Stay classy, Syrian dictators.
So, how far would you go to defend a loony spouse? And where is the line?
