The book turned television series turned movie is back on the small screen... with a twist.

Well ladies, it looks like no one has had quite enough of the Sex and the City franchise. Close on the heels of the announcement of a SATC3 film, the CW has bought the rights to a show based on The Carrie Diaries. The SATC prequel series could hit the small screen this time next year.

The book series by Candace Bushnell follows Carrie Bradshaw through her awkward teenage years in the 80s. She faces-off with the most popular girl in school (omg, it isn't Carrie?), finds love during lunch break, and deals with two pesky little sisters. Unfortunately, since the story starts during her senior year of high school, all of her New York posse will be yet-to-come. No Charlotte. No Miranda. No Samantha. While the SATC3 movie will have big names like Blake Lively and Selena Gomez attached, no actresses have been chosen to play young Carrie on television just yet (Who will be able to fill Sarah Jessica Parker's shoes?!). SJP Gives Love Advice To Twentysomethings

We must say, we're a little worried that the television version of our favorite salacious series will be watered down for teen viewers. And how will the series survive without the cast that viewers know and love?

Will you watch the SATC movie, the series, or both?
