The newlyweds agree to keep her cool $35 million safe, but there's something in it for him too.
Newlyweds Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries, who have been man and wife for less than a week, are now settling into married life with the protection of a prenup. No shock there, right? Given the amount of cash the reality star and her basketball-playing hubby are both worth, this might actually be the least surprising prenup of all time. The Lowdown On Kim Kardashian And Kris Humphries' Lavish Wedding!
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the breadwinner in this relationship is definitely Kardashian, with an estimated net worth around $35 million, while Humphries is somewhere between a paltry $8-$16 million. Still, that's a lot of dough to protect!
What seems to set this agreement apart is that it won't just protect their money — it also protects Humphries in the event that his uber-famous wife makes a bad business deal and loses her fortune. And Kardashian has been in some nasty legal entanglements before.
"He could actually benefit if it clearly delineated that debts and liabilities are actually hers," Laura Zwicker, a family wealth planner in Los Angeles, told The Hollywood Reporter.
To some, a prenup is totally a romance killer. But for celebs like Kardashian, it has to be a no-brainer. Besides, it's not just her own wealth she's looking out for. The entire Kardashian/Jenner clan likely has money and entitlements tied up in Kim's business ventures, too.
This isn't the first prenup for the Kardashian klan, either. When Kim's sister Khloe married Lakers player, Lamar Odom, their prenup protected his $33 million, while still giving Khloe access to an "allowance."
