She told the mag that she didn't like the way her husband was treating her, and that they weren't good for each other (no word yet on her soon to be ex-husband's take on their relationship.) Instead she said, "Sometimes we don't realize that we are compromising ourselves. To understand that a person is not good for you, or that that person is not treating you in the right way, or that he is not doing the right thing for himself—if I stay, then I am not doing the right thing for me."
It took her a long time to have the strength to leave him, she confessed. "I love myself enough to walk away from that now."
Her former relationships include the likes of high profile celebrities such as Ben Affleck and Sean "Diddy" Combs, and has often been ridiculed for her sometimes seemingly turbulent love life. Despite this, the singer is sticking to her beliefs. "I remain an eternal optimist about love. I believe in love," she said.
