Could you relate to younger actresses as Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte and Miranda?
It looks like the producers of Sex and the City are dead-set on infusing the franchise with fresh faces.
If you loved Sarah Jessica Parker, Kim Cattrall, Kristen Davis and Cynthia Nixon as the heroines of SATC, you're out of luck. There won't be a traditional SATC 3 hitting big screens, so it's unlikely these ladies will ever reprise their roles. According to The Daily Mail, if you're up on your pop culture, you'll see mostly familiar faces in the roles. Blake Lively has been tapped to play Samantha Jones. Selena Gomez will fill Charlotte York's prim-and-proper pumps. Emma Roberts is set to star as future-lawyer Miranda Hobbes. And the coveted role of Carrie Bradshaw reportedly belongs to Mary-Kate and Ashley's younger sis, Elizabeth Olsen.
I can definitely see why Selena would be cast. She's one of the last born-and-bred Disney stars who actually seems to have it together, so I think she'd channel Charlotte well enough. I was sort of pulling for her to play Carrie when I heard this whole prequel-thing would happen. But hopefully Elizabeth Olsen, about whom I know very little, will surprise me and work it out as young Carrie. Plus, now that I think of it, I'm sure the fun, bad-girl aspect of Gossip Girl's Serena will help Ms. Lively capture Samantha. 7 Hot New Trends from Sex and The City Gals
Ah... what do I know? I've always loved SATC for the fashion, anyway!
