Michigan cougar hit her Facebook Mafia Wars "ex" with a lawsuit after he met someone else.

Caution, social media users of America: Facebook could get you sued. Or, rather, it could get you sued if you lead someone on while playing Mafia Wars.

No, we aren't making this up—a Michigan woman has filed a lawsuit against her "boyfriend" after he broke her heart via the internet. She's demanding more than $8,000 in post-breakup reparations.

The courtship began via the popular Facebook application Mafia Wars—50-year-old Cheryl Gray met 35-year-old Wylie Iwan through the game. Gray claims that after chatting online, texting and talking on the phone, she spent money sending Wylie gifts through the game, and even booked a plane ticket to visit him in Washington. 3 Tips For Online Dating Beginners VIDEO

Then, a week before her trip, he dropped a bomb: He had met someone else. In person. At a bar. Cue the violins.

Gray told her local newspaper that she felt "foolish," especially after Iwan apparently told her that he was "falling in love."

He, however, tells a different story—they were just friends and the "love" was a platonic one. Once he met someone else, Iwan says Gray went crazy.

Before filing the lawsuit, she created a "hate group" about him on Facebook, which led him to post a derogatory comment about her, which was visible to their mutual friends. Iwan eventually made the ultimate sacrifice and quit both Mafia Wars and Facebook all together as a result of the debacle. K Jason and Kelli Krafsky

Initially, Gray asked for repayment of the $956.88 she paid for the trip to Washington that she never took. She soon rescinded that request, however, and followed up with the lawsuit seeking $8,368.88 for misrepresentation, promissory estoppel, defamation of character and intentional infliction of emotional distress.

Is Cheryl Gray founded in filing this lawsuit or should she try to battle a broken heart like the rest of us—sans judicial system?
