But any old sunscreen won't do. The Food and Drug Administration recently issued new rules identifying which sunscreen lotions provide the best protection against those pesky UVA and UVB rays. The rules—which go effect in a year—have banned manufacturers from claiming sunscreen products are waterproof or sweatproof. The FDA also specified that sunscreen with an SPF of 15 or higher must maintain on labeling that they help prevent sunburn and reduce risks of skin cancer and early skin aging.
