Kate Moss, after years of drug binges, eating disorder rumors, and questionable boyfriends, has finally settled down and tied the knot. Well, settled down at least in the dating sense, as it seems controversy is still nipping at her heels.
This past Fourth of July weekend, Moss, 37, married Jamie Hince, guitarist for the band The Kills, and the tabloids had a heyday highlighting the many (only three) "controversial" guests that were invited to the ceremony.
There was Moss's good friend and hair stylist James Brown, who just last month issued an apology statement for having used the N-word in a rant at the BAFTA awards. (Brown did not style Moss's hair for her big day.)
Moss's wedding gown—a simple floor-length white dress with gold finishing stitches—was designed by John Galliano, famous fashion designer who is currently more famous for his anti-Semitic and racist rants, rather than his designs. Galliano is presently on trial in France for allegedly making racist and anti-Semitic comments in public at a cafe in Paris. Such a thing is illegal in France, and punishable by up to six months in prison and a €22,500 fine (about $32,160 USD.) Galliano is accused of calling a 35-year-old woman a "dirty Jewish face," and the woman's friend, a 45-year old woman, a "f***ing Asian bastard." Moss has long been friends with Galliano, and had chosen one of his bridal designs before allegations were made against him. Galliano also attended the ceremony.
Another guest in attendance also has an anti-Semitic past—Moss's good friend, Bobby Gillespie, lead singer of band Primal Scream was there, who, in 2005, did the Nazi salute to his audience while performing in Glastonbury.
The Daily Mail reports that some less controversial guests attended the wedding as well, including Sadie Frost, Jude Law, Stella McCartney, Naomi Campbell, and Kelly Osbourne, who tweeted: "This is the most beautiful, loving, amazing wedding I have ever been to. it's magical when you see people really in love!"
Moss had a whopping fourteen bridesmaids—all young girls in chiffon dresses. Her maid of honor was her former agent Jess Hallett, who wore a blue gown by Stella McCartney.
Hince's "best woman" was his The Kills bandmate Allison Mosshart. And his good friend, Primal Scream bassist Gary "Mani" Mounfield said Jamie was not nervous at all leading up to the wedding, saying, "He's marrying a supermodel . . . Mani also said he will not be getting the couple a wedding gift: "They are rich. Anyway I've let her in my gigs for free often enough, so that's present enough."
