A new study ranks a DC Metro station the most romantic subway stop in the U.S.
After a year-long study of chance encounters at some of the country's largest subway, metro and rapid transit systems, Washington D.C.'s "Vienna Fairfax-GMU" pulls ahead of them all as the Most Romantic Subway/Metro Station, says Craigslist.
Researchers ranked the top five stations—Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Chicago, Boston, New York—based on how many "Missed Connections" messages were posted per person on Craigslist. Not familiar with "Missed Connections?" It's an online bulletin for passengers who, for whatever reason, missed their chance to talk to another passenger and later turn to the internet to try and remedy their mistake. But are "Missed Connections" all that make "Vienna Fairfax-GMU" the most romantic?
According to researchers, no. It could also have to do with the station's name—Vienna—and the fact it conjures imperial images, i.e., swirling gowns. It could also have to do with the fact that Fairfax County, VA is home to many federal agencies and is a mainline for George Mason University. The second most romantic subway system is the Cecil B. Moore line in Philadelphia, a mainline for Temple University, so students seem to help when it comes to romantic ranking. 3 Ways To Make Him Fall For You—Guaranteed
However, while Vienna-Fairfax/GMU may be the most romantic subway station, the Chicago "L" System is ranked the "Most Romantic Subway System," contributing five stations to the national top 10. The L has eight transit lines and 144 stations with up to 650,000 weekly riders. The only other city that ranks more than once in the top 10 is New York with a total of 2.
Though missed connection posts have a slim chance of being successful, Jim Buckmaster, craigslist CEO, says the success rate is still higher than one might think. How To Pick Up Men On Public Transportation
