On their fifth wedding anniversary, the reality-star duo has decided to go their separate ways.
For some Hollywood couples, the five-year mark in marriage is a big milestone. For America's Next Top Model's 2004 winner Adrianne Curry, 28, and her husband, The Brady Bunch's Christopher Knight, 53, the five-year mark spelled trouble as the couple announced their split. 10 Biggest Celebrity Divorces Of 2010
The two met on VH1's The Surreal Life and quickly fell in love and documented their engagement, wedding and first year of marriage on a spin-off reality show, My Fair Brady. They seemed like a mismatched couple in a number of ways from the get-go: there's the 25-year age gap between them, their tendency to fight constantly, their very different personalities. Yet somehow it seemed to work.
"After starting a relationship with what seemed to be irreconcilable differences, the couple has reached a period where those differences are no longer appreciated," the couple's manager Phil Viardo said in a statement to Hollyscoop.com. News of their split might come as a surprise to Curry's Twitter followers after she recently tweeted, "May 29th, 2006 I married Christopher Anton Knight. Enjoy your weekend! I certainly am!!!"
But Curry might have been hinting there was trouble in paradise on Friday when she said this on Twitter: "I am Mrs knight the III, and most likely not the last...least, thats my saying." Can Twitter Help Your Marriage?
In 2007, Curry admitted that she and Knight were seeking marriage counseling, but she was optimistic that the couple would "have kids and everything is going to be fine." They have no children together, however. This month, Curry went on Howard Stern's radio show and confessed that she was unsatisfied at home and used Twitter to get the attention she craves. Sounds like things have been rocky for a while, though it is commendable that they stuck it out for five years, which in Hollywood years is quite a while!
"The couple has mutually determined that they are at a place where moving forward will require a step back," Viardo added. "They still love one another but need some distance to consider their future." Can A Trial Separation Ever Re-Spark The Flame?
