Arnold Schwarzenegger Rep: Infidelity Cover-Up Rumor Is SO False
By Jenna Birch. Posted on .
Another day, another rumor about Arnold Schwarzenegger. We try to sort out fact from fiction, so here's the latest scoop...
Today, we give you the other half of the story surrounding the former governor's alleged misuse of state funds to cover up his now-infamous infidelity scandal. In case you're just tuning in, here's what's gone down:
Yesterday we reported on allegations that a member of security personnel during Schwarzenegger's time in office, William Taylor, spilled to the National Enquirer that police officers were used to quietly escort women to the Hyatt Regency when Arnold stayed there. Now, the former California governor's legal team says those claims are totally false.
We received official word, direct from a rep who works for Schwarzenegger's attorney, telling us that the allegations are untrue, and that they're simply media fabrications. Arnold Schwarzenegger & Maria Shriver Split After 25 Years
Arnold's lawyer, Martin Singer, called the claims "totally and completely false. Unfortunately, the media's relentless desire for new information has some outlets running stories that are made up by paying sources that have zero credibility. My client stated from the beginning that he takes full responsibility for his actions and deserves the public and media criticism. This does not entitle some in the media to be totally irresponsible."
Retired CHP Sergeant, Mark Hammond is also backing Arnold, 100 percent. He said that after working for the governor for seven years, he'd never seen any impropriety from the politician.
"I can say without a shadow of a doubt as a supervisor of his protective detail that at no time did I see Governor Schwarzenegger say or do anything that could be deemed inappropriate, and I was at his side for 7 years," Hammond said. "As a supervisor, if anything had occurred, I would have been notified, even if it was technically off the record on his private time." Did Arnold Schwarzenegger Use State Funds To Hide His Infidelity?
OK, OK. We hear y'all. So, what about this William Taylor character? Is he to be believed? Well, the General Manager of the Hyatt Regency, Ulrich Samietz, said this lad had never even been employed with the hotel. Although the Enquirer posted a letter about his contract work with the company, he still says, "Um no, it's all lies." Or, y'know, this more official statement:
"A story appearing in The National Enquirer today indicates that an individual named William Taylor previously worked as head of security at Hyatt Regency Sacramento," Samietz said. "Hyatt Regency Sacramento never employed an individual named William Taylor as head of security or in any other capacity. As far as Governor Schwarzenegger is concerned, he was always respectful to our associates during his stays here." 10 Reasons Maria Shriver Is Better Without Arnold Schwarzenegger
The editor from the National Enquirer, Tony Frost? He's standing by his original story. Hmm... Gotcha.
