You have to hand it to Paul McCartney. Despite a very messy and public divorce from his last wife, Heather Mills, the 68-year-old former Beatle is evidently not afraid to take another stroll down the wedding aisle. According to People Magazine, Paul is engaged to his girlfriend of four years, American socialite and millionaire Nancy Shevell.
"Nancy and Paul are getting married...Ring and all – very exciting," said a source to the magazine.
The couple reportedly first met in the Hamptons, almost 20 years ago, when they were both married to other people, but didn't start dating until the summer of 2007. And, despite a 17 year age difference — Nancy, in fact, is only a few years older than Paul's eldest daughter — the couple is said to be well matched.

This will be the third marriage for Paul and the second for Nancy, who reportedly separated from her first husband, wealthy Republican politician Bruce Blakeman, around the same time that she first was romantically linked to Paul in 2007. According to the Daily Mail, the Blakemans' and the McCartneys' summer homes in the Hamptons were close to each other, and Nancy was also friends with Paul's first wife, Linda McCartney, who tragically died of breast cancer in 1998. (Nancy was also diagnosed with breast cancer in the late '90s but was able to beat the disease.)
Like Linda, Nancy comes from a wealthy, East Coast background, and the fact that she has her own money (and isn't after Paul's) supposedly "makes everyone comfortable," including Paul's daughter, Stella McCartney, who is said to have been won over by Nancy's "calmness, class and slightly hippy nature."
"Paul is deliriously happy with Nancy and decided she was the woman he wanted to make his third wife. They clicked from the moment they first met eyes," said a pal to People. "She is the complete opposite to Heather Mills and is only interested in Paul the person, not Paul the Beatle."
Congrats to the happy couple!
