Out the blue, he breaks up with me

My boyfriend and I were good friends for about a year or two before we started dating, and once we did, it was magic! We dated for a little over three months. he would always say the sweetest things to me! I could tell he wasn't lying when he told me he loved me, and that I was the most important thing in his life. We hung out together alot, and we missed each other when we weren't together. Basically, I thought our relationship was perfect. But then one day, completely out of blue (a little over a week after we had the nicest time together on valentine's day!) he just breaks up with me. Says it's not working, and that he felt like "he was the only one doing the work in the relationship to keep it alive." I gave him an explanation for that, and asked why he just ended it without talking about it, and he said because he didn't think talking about the problems would solve them. Also, that his love for me just kind of stopped. He said he doesn't know when exactly, but that it "just kind of did." he said he wants to be friends. We are friendly to each other now, (ex., smiling and waving when we see each other at school (he's 17 and I'm 16, by the way.), but we don't talk).

I don't know what is going through his mind, or if he has completely moved on or not.

All I know is that it's been over a week, and he is still all I think about. I want him back more than anything. And I have no idea what to do.
So please, even if you do not get a chance to read this, Essy, if anyone else does and thinks they know a way they can help me get him back, please let me know.

I was just so so so so happy with him. And when I do that psychology exercise, thinking about us in the future, with his arms around me, I want it so bad. I just miss him so much.

So anyone who can relate, knows how I feel, or knows what to do, comment and help(: it would be greatly appreciated, and I can try and help someone too! (Because lots of my friends say I'm good with relationship advice! Just not my own relationship apparently....) haha.
Thank you(:
