Giving Flowers

Instead of choosing to "say it with flowers," why not just say it? A real "I love you" or "I'm sorry" isn't just mature. It's also green.
Most flowers we give as gifts aren't local. In fact, 75 percent of cut flowers sold in the US are flown in from Central and South America and require refrigeration along the way. One bunch of flowers can mean gallons of pesticides used for growth and gallons of fossil fuels for transport.
If you still want to opt for some flora, stick to local blooms that are in season. Consider buying a local houseplant you can enjoy for the long haul.
