Matthew McConaughey Likes Being A Family Man

Matthew McConaughey has played many perennial bachelor roles throughout his career—a lovable pediatrician, a woman lovin' stoner, a slacker who has no intention of moving out of his parents' house. But in real life, the only role he wants to pursue is that of loving father and committed partner.

The 41-year-old actor has been involved with the gorgeous Brazilian model Camila Alves, 29, since 2007. The two are not married, and have expressed no intention of exchanging wedding vows in the future. The couple lives together in Malibu, California with their two children, son Levi Alves McConaughey (born July 6, 2008) and daughter Vida Alves McConaughey (born January 3, 2010). According to Popeater, McConaughey recently told Esquire that family is his top priority. "I found the woman I wanna do it with, the woman I wanna make a family with, hopefully live our life out together," he says of Alves.

The Esquire interview paints the couple's life as relatively laidback and domestic. The interviewer was invited to their house, where Matthew chatted, while Camilla serenely strolled around the house preparing for a party the two were throwing later that evening. Obviously, the two are calm enough to handle both a reporter and party preparations in the same afternoon, not to mention their two children who were also present.

And when the interview inevitably came to the topic of why he and Camilla never married, Matthew said, "Why didn't Camila and I get married? Nobody's business." Matthew McConaughey Not Marrying Yet

Which, let's face it, is no surprise, considering the distance the couple has consistently maintained from the public eye. McConaughey hasn't been the focus of a magazine article in some time, and the only news we usually see concerning them is a baby announcement of some sort (of which, obviously, there's just been two.)

McConaughey and Camila did recently attend the second wedding of Reese Witherspoon. Matthew is one of Tim Joth's (Mr. Reese Witherspoon) many A-list clients. But despite McConaughey's celeb status and Camilla's good looks, they were still overshadowed by Reese herself and the arrival of Scarlett Johansson and Sean Penn. If we had to guess, this seems to be precisely how this loving duo likes it.
