It seems their breakup came as a bit of a surprise to the people closest to the former couple. Their family and friends apparently thought Renée and Bradley were a perfect pair: "They were such a great couple that we are all shocked," a friend of Renee's told Popeater. "We all thought for sure they were going to be together forever after they moved in together last fall—we're really sad." Bradley Cooper And Renée Zellweger Get Serious

Bradley and Renée met in 2009 and were dating secretly for nearly a year before they were caught together in public last September. They never confirmed they were a couple, but photos and Bradley's gushing ("I can't say enough about her," he said in September. "I just love her. I love acting with her. And just last month Star magazine ran a cover that depicted Bradley as a cheater, printing an image of the actor getting flirty with Jessica Biel (though she was still officially with Justin Timberlake at the time, we all now know that their relationship was already cooling off then and on its way out) and another of him exiting a hotel with Sandra Bullock.
Though, if the speculated infidelity proves to hold no water, this couple (who had been living together since last fall) has also dealt with some hardship this year that may be partly to blame for their demise. In January, Bradley's father died and Renée canceled her Golden Globes appearance to be with him and his grieving family. The death of a family member can always send a jolt through one's body, startling them in one way or another that can drastically change the course of their life—sometimes it's positive and other times, well, not so positive. Needless to say, a death in the family can cause strain in any relationship. Bradley Cooper's Unsupportive GF Renée Zellweger
