After Kate Winslet's marriage to director Sam Mendes fell apart last summer, we wondered if perhaps the 35-year-old British actress wasn't rebounding too quickly. Before her marriage was even officially over, Kate was already dating a hunky Burberry model named Louis Dowler, and some claimed that she was so smitten that she was thinking of walking down the aisle a third time!
However, the summertime romance evidently cooled off by last November, and, since then, Kate has been spending some quality time by herself, something that the actress recently spoke to British Vogue about for their April issue. Is Kate Winslet Rebounding Too Quickly?
Sporting platinum blonde hair, Kate revealed that her single status was an "empowering thing."
"I’ve never been lonely. And with kids Mia and Joe that remains the case. But to be in this place now where I can say I really like this space. I really need to not have anyone around. It’s a surprise to discover that I like being on my own."
However, Kate admits that even Oscar-winning actresses aren't happy all of the time, reports Celebitchy.com:
"Experiencing those moments of being alone…is a very, very weird flooring and exposing position to be in when you’re just not used to it. And it's not just being in a relationship. It's also the fact that I grew up in a family full of people."
And like a typical Brit, she doesn't believe in crying her heart out to a therapist or support group either. Kate Winslet, Sam Mendes Sharing House Of Horrors
"One of the reasons I've never done intensive psychotherapy or any of that stuff is that if there's anything in me that needs fixing, I want to know that I can rely on my own intuition to fix it."
Luckily, Kate has two, reportedly very well-behaved kids to focus on, not to mention a new miniseries, Mildred Pierce, to promote, so we're thinking that she's not sitting around, eating Chunky Monkey at night. Still, we won't be surprised if she has a handsome, new beau on her arm by mid-year.
