Why this German beauty avoids tying the knot at all costs.
Unlike many of her female comrades, the German-born actress does not have marriage in her sights, despite a long-term relationship with Dawson's Creek star Joshua Jackson since 2006.
Diane's former marriage to French actor Guillaume Canet seems to have changed her mind about the beauty of marital bliss.
"Without sounding pessimistic, I learned that I don't believe in marriage," she told Glamour (via Popeater.com). "I believe in a commitment that you make in your heart. There's no paper that will make you stay. A guy friend of mine said, and it made a lot of sense, that people should get married at the end of the road, not the beginning"
Diane learned that the hard way when she was 13 years old. She confessed to Glamour that her family (herself, mother and brother) moved out of the house because her father was an alcoholic.
Unsurprisingly, this experience seems to have left her with some issues when it came to men.
"I also made a lot of boys pay for my father’s behavior," she admitted.
Married from 2001 to 2006, the Inglorious Bastards beauty may not be ready to walk down the aisle again, but she's open to having kids (her ex-husband is expecting his own child with Marion Cotillard).
But if Diane ever does change her mind, Joshua (AKA Pacey) has said he's OK with putting a ring on it. He's just waiting until she starts dropping the oh-so-subtle wedding hints.
"My better half lives in Paris so I spend half my time there. I think that (marriage) might be a possibility, it's working out well. She's German; she'll tell me when it's time to get married," Joshua told Starpulse.com a few years ago.
According to Exposay.com, in 2009 Diane said she "wouldn't consider tying the knot with her current beau Joshua Jackson until they are 60."
