Lindsay Lohan: "No Idea" She Was Moving Next Door To Sam Ronson

Lindsay Lohan says she's left drugs behind, but she may be having trouble letting go of another part of her troubled past: her relationship with Samantha Ronson.

TMZ reports that the newly-rehabbed starlet moved into a chic Venice Beach pad this week... right next door to her ex! Lohan's camp claims that Lindsay knew Sam lived in Venice, but had no idea that they'd be living in the same neighborhood, let alone right next door. Lindsay says she didn't  have a clue she saw Sam pull into her driveway next door while she was moving in. (How's that for an awkward run-in?)

Whatever Lohan's intentions, Ronson made it clear to TMZ yesterday that the move was as much a surprise to her as it was to everyone else, telling reporters, "Trust me, it wasn't planned." Ronson's relationship with Lohan was notoriously volatile, so it should come as no surprise that the deejay is reportedly furious at her ex's move.

As for Lindsay? We CelebLovers aren't sure what to make of her side of the story. On the one hand, the girl is a drama-magnet, and she does seem to have really bad luck, so maybe the move really was just a freaky coincidence. On the other hand, there are lots of places for a starlet with bucketloads of money to live in LA. Wouldn't Lindsay have stayed out of Sam's 'hood entirely if she wasn't interested in revisiting the past? It just seems unlikely that she managed to pick the apartment next door out of all the apartments in the City of Angels -- what are the odds?

Media reports are conflicted as to how Lindsay's dealing with Sam's less-than-enthused reaction to her move. TMZ claims that Lindsay has offered to move if Sam wants her to, while E! Online is claiming that Lindsay's stance is more along the lines of "I'm not going anywhere!".

Whatever happens, this move is troublesome. We've been hoping that the extended stay in rehab would encourage Lindsay to make serious changes and move forward. The thought of the lease-breaking fee on this one makes us wince, but we've gotta say it: sometimes moving on means moving away. Find a new place, Lindsay. It's your best chance for a fresh start, and if there's anything you need right now, a fresh start at the top of the list.
