2011 has been a big year for Chaz Bono, after he gained fame for performing in the top eight on Dancing With The Stars. To cap it off, Cher's daughter-turned-son shared his official marriage proposal (which happened in May) to longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Elia, in the one-hour premiere of the new show, Being Chaz, which aired this past Sunday on OWN.
According to Hollywood Reporter, the reality series is a follow-up to the Emmy nominated documentary, Becoming Chaz, and follows Chaz's life as he rises to fame. Chaz Bono Becomes Real, Live, Legal Boy
The couple has reportedly been engaged for two years without a ring due to Chaz's expensive gender reassignment procedures in 2010. Elia has been very supportive and has stayed with him throughout the process. So, it was only fitting that she should receive an engagement ring as her birthday gift this year (we'd swoon over that for a birthday gift any day). Chaz Bono Speaks Out On Sex Change
The former Dancing With the Stars contestant, 42, offered Elia her birthday gift on top of the Seattle space needle (How romantic!). In the clip, she reacts by saying, "Wow, it's gorgeous. Thank you so much." When she puts it on she describes the ring as "huge," "stunning" and "gorgeous."
