13 (More) Reasons We're Grateful For Being Single On Thanksgiving
By YourTango. Posted on .
This Thanksgiving, we are thankful to be single women! We are thankful for our friends, family, independence and more. Here are just a few things:
Amanda Chatel, Angry Single Blogger:
1. I can drop everything and leave town at a moment's notice, and there's nothing I love more than traveling alone.
2. I can go to Freemans on the Lower East Side and drink too many $15 Martinis until I fall down with my friend/lover Christoffer... for brunch, mind you.
3. I live in NYC just like I always dreamed, in a one-bedroom apartment where I can see the iconic Katz's deli sign from my bedroom window and I can fall asleep to drunken couples arguing on Houston on nightly basis. Honestly, I think I have it made.
Kyla Jones, intern:
4. I'm grateful for my friend Bridget, who is always willing to listen to me vent about boys and other things over mani/pedis and champagne.
5. I'm thankful for my sisters, one who is in a serious relationship and the other who is a newlywed, for always shedding some light on the dating woes I face in college. They've been there before and dealt with the same types of boys, so I trust them. I also know they are looking out for me but aren't afraid to tell me the truth, so they won't hesitate to tell me I'm being stupid about something.
Jenna Birch, blogger:
6. I'm thankful for my friends Brianne and Kelsey, who let me vent about guys until I actually feel better.
7. I'm thankful for Friday nights in with a bowl of popcorn and a whole lot of Friends (and Gossip Girl!) on DVD.
8. I'm thankful for my one-year-old nephew. He's given me a tiny glimpse of what the best parts of motherhood might be like one day.
Rachel Kleinman, intern:
9. I am grateful for my sister Rebecca. When you're single over 30, it can be tough to find someone to go on vacation with. Rebecca is always game to get out of town with me for a few days so I can get the R&R I desperately need!
10. I am grateful for my parents for only putting minimal pressure on me to find a guy and get hitched. Sure, they would love to see me married with babies already, but they are patient and appreciate how hard it can be to find a good man! Besides, they wouldn't want me to rush into anything.
11. I am grateful for my education. It enables me to be independent and self-sufficient so I can be strong, confident and self-supporting as a single woman.
Kait Smith, blogger:
12. I'm grateful to have two great friends, Riley and Erica, who are navigating the post-grad singles scene along with me. All of the mishaps, embarrassing moments and horrendous dates are much more bearable when you've got someone to share your stories with.
13. I'm grateful that being single has enabled me to follow my dreams, no matter where they take me geographically. I've moved a lot in the past year and done quite a bit of job switching, and I know that some decisions would have been difficult to make if I was also uprooting a partner.
What are you grateful for on this Thanksgiving?
