Baby Bieber Fever: Was Justin's Paternity Suit Dropped Or Not?
By Kali Lamparelli. Posted on .
Before Justin Bieber fell in love with his gorgeous girlfriend Selena Gomez, he supposedly lost his virginity to a fan he claims he "never met" (that would make baby-making pretty impossible, right?).
The pop singer, 17, was accused by fan, Mariah Yeater, 20, of fathering her three-month old. Since then, Bieber has been handling the whole situation with finesse. He told the Today show, "I know that I'm going to be a target, but I'm never going to be a victim." He also agreed to take a DNA test. 6 Famous Baby Daddies (Will Justin Bieber Be Next?) PHOTOS
But this morning, TMZ reported that the "baby mama dismissed her paternity lawsuit" quietly last week. According to the report, Yeater's lawyers, Matt Pare and Lance Rogers quit her case, probably because Bieber had more of a chance at winning the suit than Yeater did. Win, Team Bieber!
But now, Daily Mail has published a conflicting report, which claims that the suit is very much still on. Yeater's Chicago based lawyer, Jeffrey Leving, said in a telephone interview today to a Chicago news station that there's simply a new legal team on the case. "In light of death threats against my client, strategies have been reviewed... the San Diego team has been replaced by John Carlson from Los Angeles," Leving said.
"Negotiations are going on right now with Bieber's council and we're trying to negotiate a private, secure DNA test with the same safe guards that would exist if there were a court order, but without a court order," he added.
So, perhaps it's not the end of Bieber's rough couple of weeks then. At least his girlfriend Selena has been nothing but supportive throughout this whole situation. According to People, the young couple were spotted recently holding hands in Belfast at the MTV Voices dinner. Justin Bieber & Selena Gomez's Romance: A Timeline
