Jessica Chastain To Play Cheating Princess Diana In New Biopic

Playing the role of a 20th century icon is no easy task; just ask Michelle Williams whose portrayal of Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming film My Week With Marilyn was widely criticized even before the movie was released. Still, even with the wide amount of skepticism that comes with filling the shoes of a legend, it hasn't seemed to scare off 30-year-old actress Jessica Chastain, who will reportedly play Princess Diana in an upcoming biopic. Tentatively titled Caught in Flight, the movie will focus on Princess Di's little-known, two-year affair she carried on with Dr. Hasnat Kahn, a London-based Pakistani heart and lung surgeon. Their relationship apparently ended a few months before Lady Di's fatal car crash.

Despite Jessica's impressive performances in films like The Help and The Tree of Life, some bloggers, like Adriana over at The Stir, are already wary of her ability to convincingly play Prince William and Harry's late mother. And, British movie-goers will no doubt be riled up that a red-headed American was chosen for the part and not a British actress (we just hope that Jessica's English accent is better than the one Anne Hathaway attempted in One Day). 'One Day' Review: Should You Wait To "Grow Into" Love?

According to the Daily Telegraph, the film will also portray Diana as a "damaged person who stalks the doctor after he ends the affair," so we can probably bet that the royal family won't be hosting a screening at the palace for this flick when it's released next year.
