The actress reveals that women and gay men love her cropped hair; straight men, not so much.
For the past few years, 31-year-old actress Michelle Williams—of Brokeback Mountain and Blue Valentine fame—has been rocking a Mia Farrow-esque bob. While she knows her girlfriends and gay men in general love her hair, she recently told British Elle magazine (via The Telegraph) that men of the heterosexual variety do not like her short crop!
"I've really grown into it — I feel like myself with short hair. And it's been a really long time since I had long hair, five years," she told the magazine for their December issue. "Of course, the only people who like it are gay men and my girlfriends. Straight men across the board are not into this hair!"
Michelle, who plays Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming biopic, My Week With Marilyn, has been linked to filmmaker Cary Fukunaga in recent months (who we hope loves her pixie cut!), after splitting from director Spike Jonze in 2009. Michelle Williams On Practicing Her Sexy Marilyn Monroe "Wiggle"
However, there's someone else who's not a fan of her locks, and she's pretty important. It's Michelle's 6-year-old daughter, Matilda Ledger, whose father, Heath Ledger, died tragically of an accidental overdose in 2008.
"What Matilda would love is for her mum to grow out the cropped hair, though that's unlikely to happen any time soon," Michelle says.
