The Desperate Housewife sets gossipers straight on her non-relationship with Matt Barnes.
Many celebrities (like Brad Pitt and Angelina) avoid reading gossip stories about themselves in order to keep sane and live a relatively normal existence, but apparently Eva Longoria knows no such resistance! The 36-year-old actress has been taking to the Internet to shoot down several recent rumors that have been published about her.
The most recent claim: she and Los Angeles Lakers forward Matt Barnes are dating. A few days ago, Page Six reported that the two "shared a flirty dinner" in New York. The Post went on to say, via one of their spies: "There was definitely a spark between Eva and Matt. They weren't seated next to each other, but you could tell there was something between them. There was a little hand-holding over the table and a lot of eye contact." This rumor comes on the heels of Barnes' split from girlfriend, Basketball Wives LA star Gloria Govan. Adoption In Eva Longoria's Future?
Well, Eva did not like that one bit and took to the Internet to unbind herself from the story. According to E!, the actress wrote on her WhoSay account: "Once again, press gets it wrong, matt barnes and I are not dating! We are doing a charity event together for Padres and Athletes vs Cancer... Why is the truth never the headline? why did I bother to comment when they put your statement at end of articles?"
The "statement" she's referring to is what her rep told Page Six: "Eva and Matt are friends and are working together doing charity work for Eva's Padres Contra El Cáncer. She was at the dinner amongst her other friends."
That seems pretty clear to us. So what if it's at the end of the article? Page Six is just doing what it always does, so why is Eva so surprised that a tabloid would make something out of nothing for a story? Eva Longoria Rebounds With Penelope Cruz's Brother
Could the reason for her ardent attempts to debunk rumors have something to do with her actual boyfriend, Eduardo Cruz (Penelope Cruz's brother)? I mean, we can understand not wanting your monogamous partner to be reading claims that you've been flirting with someone else. But in Hollywood, doesn't that just come with the territory? Doesn't Eva know her efforts are futile, and that there will just be another rumor down the road?
Maybe the motivation behind her incessent attempts to clear her name is because there's actually some trouble going on between her and Eduardo, who made their relationship public in February. Otherwise, why would she even bother fighting this battle?
What do you think, CelebLovers? Should celebs ignore the gossip or fight it head on?
