Sir Paul McCartney was all smiles on Sunday after he and his lady love, Nancy Shevell, said, "I do!"
The couple were married in an afternoon ceremony at Old Marylebone Town Hall in London, according to People. The former Beatle and his American wife were greeted with cheers and tons of rose petals as they exited the Town Hall as newlyweds. Guests included fellow Beatle Ringo Starr and his wife, Barbara Bach, Shevell's cousin Barbara Walters, as well as Shevell's son, Arlen, and McCartney's youngest daughter, Beatrice, 7, who served as the flower girl. Both McCartney, 69, and Shevell, 51, wore designs by (who else?) Stella McCartney, Paul's famous fashion designer daughter.
"It was terrific – thank you!" Paul beamed after the ceremony.
Following their wedding, the newlyweds (who started dating in 2007, and were engaged in May) partied the night away in a lavish reception held at Paul's private home in St. John's Wood. Guests such as Twiggy and Rolling Stone's Ronnie Wood nibbled on the vegetarian fare—including two wedding cakes, one vegan and one traditional—and watched as Paul serenaded his new wife with a special song written just for her. "There was a lovely song that our kid did, and they had a lovely dance together," the groom's brother, Mike McCartney, said. He also described the wedding as "Fabulous. Beautiful. It was just lovely and peaceful. Smashing lovely feel. I'm happy for my brother, he's a lovely brother. Nancy is lovely, too. She is a charming lady. … She's one of us now!" We hope this marriage—the third for McCartney and second for Shevell—is the "happily ever after" they've both been looking for.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
