One of rock music's most famous bachelors has finally tied the knot!
KISS front man, Gene Simmons, wed his girlfriend of 28 years, Shannon Tweed, on Saturday, October 1. According to People, the ceremony was held on the lawn of the Beverly Hills Hotel with 400 guests in attendance, including the other members of KISS, Hugh Hefner, Bill Maher and Simmons and Tweed's two teenagers, Nick, 22, and Sophie, 19. 8 Celebrity Couples Who Fell In Love At Work
The 62-year-old rocker watched as his bride, 54, walked down the aisle in an ivory gown designed by Priscilla of Boston. They exchanged their own vows that they had written and then partied the night away after their daughter Sophie sang "At Last" by Etta James for their first dance. Naturally, camera crews from the couple's reality show, Gene Simmons Family Jewels were on hand to catch every last minute (the wedding episode is set to air October 18).
While it's a happy and joyous occasion to see these two lovebirds finally get hitched—after years of Gene saying he would never marry—there's one part of this union that has us feeling, well, a little concerned. In a recent appearance on the Today show to discuss their upcoming nuptials, Tweed reluctantly said of Simmons, "He doesn't promise to be faithful to me." Gene Simmons Sex Tape
Simmons added, "I will do my best."
It takes a very strong woman to accept a marriage proposal that doesn't include fidelity from the very start. But, there is hope that Simmons will change his ways as a married man.
"It is time for me to grow up," he recently said. "I'm 62. I've been doing a lot of wacky stuff for an awfully long time — the band, the thing, traveling around the world and all that. There's nobody I've ever loved. There's nobody I've ever said 'I love you' to. I even find it difficult to say 'I love you' to my mother, but I love Shannon with all my heart and all my soul and always will."
Let's hope for the newlyweds' sake that their love stays true and faithful for the rest of their married years!
Congrats to the happy couple!
