Cher To Christina Aguilera: 'Husbands Come And Go'
By Meghan Beresford. Posted on .
Christina Aguilera and Cher seem to have more than fishnet stockings and amazing pipes in common. The co-stars in what will be this Thanksgiving's most notorious fluff flick, Burlesque, apparently hit it off smashingly on set. According to People, the twosome bonded over an unlikely topic: divorce.
"We were like old chatty girlfriends that could not stop talking," Aguilera says. "They had to drag us to set a few times because we were late just talking about love and relationships and life."
Cher has been to the rodeo more than once, divorce-wise, and had choice words for Aguilera, who filed for divorce from hubby Jordan Bratman last month. According to Aguilera, she said, "You know, honey, husbands come and go, but I am still Cher at the end of the day."
Substitue 'Christina Aguilera' for 'Cher,' and we wouldn't be surprised if Christina had found a mantra to get her through her divorce from Jordan.
Cher's words come from hard-won experience, since both of her marriages have ended in divorce. Her first union, with Sonny Bono, lasted over thirteen years and produced daughter Chastity Bono, who made headlines last year when she came out as a transperson and changed her name to Chaz. Her second marriage, to Gregg Allman, lasted only two years but produced son Elijah Blue Allman, who now fronts the rock band Deadsy. Cher has also been linked to a laundry list of Hollywood studs over the years. She's taken dinner with everyone from Warren Beatty to Elvis Presley, and dated Val Kilmer, Richie Sambora, Tom Cruise, Eric Clapton and Gene Simmons. (Hey, if you're Cher, it's probably hard to find a normal guy to date!) Has Cher Slept Her Way Around Hollywood?
Cher spoke candidly about her love experience in a recent Parade interview, explaining that "Very few men want to be Mister Cher" while winkingly defending her sampling of Hollywood's hottest wares.
"I enjoyed them all!" she says. "I never felt I chose badly, and I was always happy when the next man came along. I can usually last about two years with a man, and that's it. The moment the relationship goes into the phase of more commitment, it changes."
