The study following over 600 teenagers from the beginning of 9th grade through the end of 11th grade and found that half of the teens who initiated oral sex by the end of 9th grade ended up having intercourse by the end of 11th grade. Only 9% of them had abstained from intercourse by the end of 11th grade. By contrast, the kids who delayed oral sex until the end of 11th grade had a 57% chance of abstaining from intercourse through the end of 11th grade.
