Blake Lively & Penn Badgley Break Up
We're guessing that Blake will no longer sign 'XOXO' to Penn in her heart.
OMG, Upper East Siders (and all of the rest of you,) Gossip Girl's goldencouple, Blake Lively and Penn Badgley have broken up, and their repseven confirmed it, making it totally official.
While there had been rumblings lately that Blake Lively was dating otherguys (remember that midnight escapade to Disneyland that she went onwith Ryan Gosling recently?), this break-up caught us totally off guard.Unlike their on and off-again co-stars, Ed Westwick and Jessica Szohr,these two 23-year-olds had been dating for 3 years and seemedsolid together. It was only recently that anyone even suspected that something might be amiss between the two, although there was that wholeawkward side hug incident a few weeks ago that caused people to startgossiping on-set, and not in a good way. According to US Magazine, Blake and Penn broke up in mid-September and are "still good friends," which is nice,because, otherwise, it's going to be awkward next season if theircharacters, Serena and Dan, start dating again, and they areprofessionally required to make-out with each other and, you know,pretend the other person didn't completely break their heart and/orrepulse them.Ed Westwick And Pals Ostracize Jessica Szohr
While there are no other details about the break-up so far, we betanything that it was Blake "I've been on the cover of Vogue twice now"Lively that did the dumping. Or maybe Penn, who's only recent non-GossipGirl accomplishment was a role in the teen comedy Easy A, was jealousof Blake's A-list career and couldn't handle it?
Of course, if you believe Star Magazine (and why wouldn't you?), the real reason is because Blake wanted to settle down and get married and Penn didn't!
"Blake comes from a traditional Southern Baptist background, and she’s always had her eye on getting married and having lots of children...The pressure on him to settle down at such a young age finally reachedthe point where he realized he and Blake couldn’t get on the same page,timing-wise, about starting a family," said a source to the magazine.
Regardless of the reason for the split, for Gossip Girl fans, it's a sad, sad day.
