Will Simon Cowell's Engagement Last?

After splitting with longtime gal pal Terri Seymour in late 2008, Simon Cowell shocked everyone when he announced his engagement to makeup artist Mezhgan Hussainy this spring. A lot of people thought it wouldn't last...and they might be right. Simon Cowell Proposes To Mezhgan Hussainy?!

Mezhgan has reportedly told friends that her relationship with Simon is "on the rocks," and Simon's mother Julie isn't surprised. Ma Cowell told the Mail on Sunday that the couple is on "a break," due in no small part to Simon's workaholic ways, which have apparently chased women off before. Julie explains: 

If you are Simon's girlfriend, let's be honest about this, you are not going to see very much of him. It's very difficult for a girl to accept that...He doesn't want anyone sitting in his dressing room when he's working. Sometimes these girls want to be there too much. He and Mezhgan are on good terms and I'm sure are in regular contact. Simon remains friends with all his ex-girlfriends.

And it's that chumminess with his exes that could be part of the problem. Some of Mezhgan's friends say that she feels neglected because Simon doesn't spend nearly as much time with her as he does with his former flames—namely, model/BFF Jackie St. Claire and pop singer Sinitta, who is Simon's right-hand woman on The X Factor. 

According to Hello!, Simon and Mezhgan are still together, but they haven't moved forward with their wedding plans due to Mezhgan's concerns over Simon's female friends. That Simon's exes remain so close to him could be a positive reflection on the kind of guy he is. Still, when you factor in Simon's history as a cheater (just ask Sinitta or Terri Seymour) and his alleged list of 2,000+ bed partners, that much time spent with other women would understandably make anyone nervous.
