George Clooney Is Awkward With Babies

George Clooney may have famously declared that he would never get married again, but, clearly, his lady friend of 1.5 years, Italian TV presenter and former model Elisabetta Canalis, is trying her best to convince him (or possibly herself) otherwise. She was seen recently, shopping in Milan, and happily showed off a gold band that she was wearing on an all-important finger on her left hand to the paparazzi, igniting rumors that, perhaps, she and The Clooney were engaged or secretly married. (Rumors that George’s rep quickly dismissed, commenting that Elisabetta "just likes to wear rings.")

While we seriously doubt that a gold band would suffice for the Italian model if George had indeed proposed - we imagine that Elisabetta would demand nothing less than a 6 carat rock - it does seem to be getting serious between these two. Elisabetta Canalis Is Shtupping George Clooney

After leaving Milan, she and George took a private plane to the island of Sardinia, where Elizabetta introduced George to her parents – her dad, Cesare, a radiologist, and her mom, Bruna, a homemaker. (Perhaps she wanted to show George that she is, in fact, a wholesome, family girl, despite those reports of her having done coke with a French hooker just a few years before.) According to People Magazine, one of Elisabetta’s uncles arranged a family luncheon in honor of the couple on the first leg of their 2 day trip and, afterwards, treated them to a quick car tour of the island’s most scenic sites. Later on, the couple double-dated with Elisabetta’s parents and had a quiet dinner out.

The following day, George obliged the Canalis’ neighbors and signed autographs and posed for photos. One neighbor reportedly even thrust a baby into George’s hands for a photo.

"He looked rather awkward with the 7-month infant in his arms, but he posed politely and carefully handed the baby back," said an eye-witness, reports People. "One of the older women there shouted, 'Ora tocca a te!' 'It's your turn now!'. Clooney obviously didn't understand, but everyone turned to look at Elisabetta. She simply smiled." So, we’re supposed to believe that George Clooney has lived at his Lake Como villa since 2002 but can’t understand such a basic sentence in Italian?

Whatever Elisabetta’s press-mongering agenda is, we wouldn’t be surprised if this is as serious as their relationship ever gets. After all, this is George Clooney we’re talking about here - Hollywood’s perpetual, most eligible bachelor. Elisabetta is going to have to do more than send subtle hints to George if she wants to get him to settle down and have a baby.
