Heidi Montag & Spencer Pratt: The Saga Continues

By . Posted on .

Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt
Heidi and Spencer move forward with divorce; Spencer plans to write a tell-all book.

There has been much confusion over the status of Heidi Montag and Spencer Pratt's relationship: Was their marriage real? Was their separation real? Why do any of us continue to care?

We still aren't quite sure what to believe, but it seems that the Speidivorce is really happening. As we previously reported, Heidi filed for divorce in late July and, yesterday, her lawyer confirmed to People that Spencer signed his papers on August 13. That means that the famewhoring couple's marriage will officially end 30 days from Spencer's signing date, which is February 14, 2011. Wait. What? Their divorce will be final on Valentine's Day?? Oh no. Is anyone else getting a terrible feeling that this really is an elaborate, painfully drawn-out publicity stunt? Like, they'll suddenly realize their "love" is not dead just in the nick of time? And just in time for E! or MTV to throw together an awful three-hour Speidi, Reunited special. Ugh. We'll just hope that we're wrong about that.

In the meantime, there could be another legal battle brewing between the two now that Spencer has announced plans to pen a tell-all book about his soon-to-be ex-wife, promising to hold nothing back, including new dirt on Heidi's strained relationship with her mother. Upset that his first so-called self-help book, How To Be Famous, didn't make the New York Times bestseller list (or even the Books That People Actually Bought list), Spence expects that a less respectable genre will finally make him a even less respectable, but mega-rich author. Heidi is now considering taking legal action to stop Spencer from putting her private life on display, complaining, "This is exactly why I left him."

Hmm. Really? Wasn't Spencer's willingness to help her put her private life on display exactly why she was with him in the first place? And can Heidi even claim to have a private life anymore? Just about the only thing we're not privy to are her, um...how can we put this delicately..."bathroom habits." But we won't be surprised if those details turn up in Spencer's book.
