Neil Patrick Harris To Be A Stay-At-Home Dad?

Will the expectant father leave Hollywood to raise his new family?

Neil Patrick Harris and his partner, David Burtka shocked us all when they recently announced that they are expecting twins this fall via a surrogate. While we were still trying to come to terms with the idea of Doogie Howser having not one, but two babies, the actor goes and drops another shocker—he's thinking about leaving Hollywood to join the ranks of other famous stay-at-home dads, like Matthew Broderick. Well, according to PopEater's Rob Shuter, that is. Matthew Broderick To Stay Home With Twins

A friend of the actor reportedly told Shuter, "Neil has been working his butt off since he was a little kid. Everything was about his career until he met his soul-mate, David. Now, with twins due in October, Neil is thinking about taking a break. Moving from Hollywood to New York City to be a full-time daddy."

Apparently the fact that the How I Met Your Mother star was recently seen apartment shopping in the Big Apple, further substantiates this rumor. But we're not so easily convinced. After all, what celebrity isn't going bi-coastal these days? (Katie Holmes and Tom Cruise, Catherine Zeta Jones and Michael Douglas and Kate Hudson are all doing it.)

Come to think of it, maybe after Neil's recent guest stint on Glee, which earned him an Emmy nomination,  he's actually planning to add more to his professional plate by starring on Broadway again. (He last hit the stage in Assassins in 2004.) While we'd hate for the TV star to kiss acting goodbye entirely, we totally support his rumored decision to take a break to focus on family for awhile—something celebrity moms like Angelina Jolie—have recently been contemplating as well.
