Neil Patrick Harris & Partner Expecting Twins

Congratulations to fathers-to-be Neil Patrick Harris and his longtime boyfriend, actor-turned-chef David Burtka, who confirmed via Twitter that they are expecting twins this fall via a surrogate mother.

"We're super excited/nervous/thrilled. Hoping the press can respect our privacy," tweeted NPH about their impending fatherhood.

According to E! Online, Neil and David, who have been together for over 6 years, first got bitten by the baby bug in July 2009 when they were spotted visiting a surrogacy agency in LA, although they denied reports at the time that they were planning on having kids. While there's no word on the sex of the babies or any potential names, the couple is said to be already planning a baby shower. With their good news following just weeks after California's Prop 8 was overturned, it looks like David and the How I Met Your Mother star will have a lot more to celebrate this year than just NPH's Emmy nominations.

"Neil and David can’t wait to hold their baby; they don’t care if it’s a boy or a girl. They just want a healthy child," reported Star Magazine last year.
